Casuals are supposed to be able to clear this?
So tonight I finally did the Seat of Sacrifice trial and.......OMG, that was on NORMAL?
That was by far the hardest 'normal' trial I have seen for the MSQ, even more so than the trial at end of Stormblood!
HOW do casual people even DO that trial? I mean seriously?
I went in with a group of friends who are pretty skilled players and people were dying all over the place!!!!
We only one-shotted it because I was able to stay alive to keep healing and rezzing people. Honestly, I am amazed I did NOT die. I guess all those EX and Unreal parties toughened me up. ;p
But with all the crap the trial does, and what happened with whom I consider to be skilled players,
it has got to be REALLY frustrating for casual people to have to attempt that fight.
Though I guess with enough wipes the Echo will eventually give you enough extra power to beat it, if the party stays together that long.
I mean, am I right, or did my group just have a bad night and were 'derp'ing too much?
Steps of faith was so much worse lol. Dps tend to focus on their rotations, so, on the same skill level, they tend to make more mechanical mistakes than a healer, who has a very simple form of dps. Healers also have a more reactive role, and mechanics require reactions. Awesome job on your clear nonetheless!
It's funny that you mentioned that one Ember.
If you read my post on it, I DID do ol' Nidhogg at minimum Ilevel, so got to experience the original version of it in all it's glory.
Yeah, it WAS pretty hard, with so many AOE's. Honestly, I would put them on par with one another
In fact, it was almost much the same situation, people dying all over the place with the pretty blonde in pink staying alive through it all to keep people healed and rezzed to save the day and LB3 them to victory. ;-)
And speaking of posts.....
If you saw my post about why I am good in trials but suck in dungeons, it was soooo in evidence this time!
In the dungeon beforehand, I was AWFUL! I died sooooo many times on the last boss that I just decided to stay dead till the end and let Gran and Aria do healing duties on the party. LOL
And yet I kicked ass in the trial!
Ugh, that's it, NO dungeons anymore, ONLY trials from now on! ;p
Honestly with train hunts, who needs dungeons for tomes anymore at 80?
I do remember tripping hard at just how far out they went with this one, but I think lore wise it makes sense that it is such an OP fight, after all, spoilers spoilers spoilers.
I do appreciate when gameplay meets up with story to have an actual impact on the struggles our character is facing. For instance, when we horribly lose to Zenos several times, even if some people are not particularly fond of that kind of boss fight, added that tangible sense of frustration that cutscenes can't give.
Casuals have no problem to clear this, lol! I think it is the kind of trial where, although people will die a bunch, it is actually not that hard to just complete. I remember doing it blind on patch day, and we had only 2 wipes - one to the QTM and another after the add phase.
Also I recorded it, here you go.https://youtu.be/z0ncSzo6VEg
Awww. I was hoping you'd put it in it's own post. :(
Seeing the fight, man, soooo much stuff. I saw Mahdi did indeed also not die at all. Everyone else did at least once. Seems the middle part got a lot of people, I don't know how I lived though it since I had the least health of the party.
But, yeah, I guess groups can just muddle through it, eventually succeeding, but BOY is that a long fight.
And poor Esper, rezzing and immediately dying to the fire. I would have been pissed. ;p
Indeed, I actually expected you to get KO at least once. However you survived, and I noticed that you run around in confusion a lot less now, even doing content completely blind. So good job on the improvement, haha.
I don't know how I died. Right now, my best guess is that 1) I used tank LB too early, and it wore off on me 1st, or 2) you need some mitigation on top of tank LB to survive, and damage variance (which is + or - 5%) killed me.
I'm talking about Vishap, not Niddhogg. Niddhogg was cake.
Ohhhh, you mean the BIG dragon, I always get those 2 confused. ;p
Yeah, I hear they nerfed it from the original because of all the bitching. Guess I will never know what it was really like.
