To tell Alexander story, one must first tell the tale of his father. Constandine Holyknight was born and raised in Mor Dhona, along with his parents. He was a fine blacksmith, one of the many in the town, and practiced the art of war as a lancer. For this purpose, Constandine would commute to Gridania in order to enter the Lancer's Guild, show his worth, and train along with more experienced professionals. It was during one of his outings that he met his wife to be. Andrea Sollowinder was a local botanist in the town of the Order of the Twin Adder. Constandine stumbled unto her one day at the airship landing area, at which she was awaiting her flight to Ul'Dah. Constandine's training visits to Gridania became more and more often, and the two became romantically involved and decided to marry. They shared a house in Mor Dhona, and lived happily for a while, but alas their happiness wasn't meant to be. There were whispers at the time of the Garlean Empire's expansion to the east, but no one expected it to be so sudden. When the invasion occurred, Constandine made no second thought about it: he would stand and fight! And fight he did. For his town, for his wife, for his family. Yet the Empire was too strong. Before long, Mor Dhona fell and Constandine along with it. But Andrea managed to escape, along with the rest of the women and children. They fled; some went by boat to Limsa Lominsa. Others seeked salvation in the Twelveswood. And others just ended up wherever fate would take them. That was Andrea's case. She found herself in the Forgotten Springs of Southern Thanalan. After she managed to pull herself together from the sorrow of losing her husband and home, she began noticing something was wrong with her. Seeking counsel with the local physician, she found out there was a piece of Constandine that lived on within her; she was pregnant. 9 months later and during an Amalj'aan raid at the Springs, Andrea was carried out via caravan and was to be transported to Camp Drybone were she was to go into labour. Unfortunately, she didn't make it there and she delivered on the carriage, passing on a few minutes later. With her dying breath she baptized her son, Alexander Holyknight.
Alexander was raised in Thanalan, and spent his childhood in Ul'Dah. He has never known any parents, but he has an undying love for adventure, as his father did. He is good with a sword and blade, and also an adept blacksmith, since the crafting of a fine blade seems to come naturally to him. Yet he may not know it, there is a destiny awaiting Alexander that is far greater than he could ever imagine.
