If there's one thing Final Fantasy XIV has taught me over the years, it's that no matter how far you wander, some places always feel like home.
For those who don't know me, I've been around since the Beta days. I've seen Eorzea grow from its earliest foundations into the incredible world we all share today. I've experienced expansion launches, server communities rising and falling, unforgettable raids, countless late-night conversations, and enough adventures to fill several lifetimes.
Like many veterans, my journey hasn't been a straight line.
When Dawntrail arrived, I found myself stepping away from the game for a while. Life has a way of pulling us in unexpected directions, and what started as a short break slowly turned into a lengthy hiatus. For the first time in many years, I wasn't logging in regularly. I wasn't organizing events, recruiting members, or spending hours chatting with friends in game.
But sometimes a little distance reminds you what you love.
Over the past few weeks, I've found myself returning to familiar places, revisiting old memories, and reconnecting with people I haven't spoken to in far too long. Famfrit has always meant a lot to me, and coming back has felt less like returning to a game and more like returning to a community.
One of the best parts of this return has been reconnecting with old friends. Some names I hadn't seen in years suddenly appeared again. Others never truly left. The conversations picked up almost exactly where they left off, as if no time had passed at all. That's one of the things I've always loved most about this game. Behind every character is a real person, and those friendships often outlast entire expansions.
Outside of Eorzea, life has brought some wonderful surprises as well. Recently, I met a woman who has completely captured my attention. To put it simply, I'm crazy about her. She has brought a tremendous amount of happiness into my life, and it's been exciting experiencing this new chapter while also rediscovering an old one here in XIV.
All of this has given me a renewed sense of purpose.
Throughout my years in this game, I've created three Free Companies. Each one taught me something new about leadership, community building, and what truly makes a group successful. Some lasted longer than others. Some achieved goals I never thought possible. Every one of them left me with memories I'll always treasure.
Now I'm preparing to create my fourth.
And my last.
Not because I'm leaving afterward, but because this is the one I intend to pour everything into. The lessons learned, the mistakes made, the friendships built, and the experiences gathered over more than a decade of adventures are all leading to this next chapter.
My goal is simple.
I want to build the biggest and strongest community I've ever been a part of.
Not measured by numbers alone, but by the friendships formed, the adventures shared, the new players welcomed, and the stories we create together. I want a place where veterans and sprouts can stand side by side, where people feel comfortable logging in after a rough day, and where memories are made that last long after the credits roll on future expansions.
It's an ambitious goal, but then again, the best adventures usually start with one.
So this post serves as both an introduction and a promise.
I'm back.
I'm reconnecting with old friends.
I'm building toward something exciting.
And if you're on Famfrit and looking for new connections, new adventures, or simply good people to spend time with, I hope our paths cross soon.
After all these years, Eorzea still feels like home.
And this time, I'm planning to stay awhile.
