I miss the old PvP system

Every day that goes by, I'm either memeing in PvP or trying to enjoy odd jobs. I don't like this lack of roles in PvP to be honest. I used to heal alot in PvP, it was enjoyable and it felt rewarding if you managed to save someone, especially with Rescue (looking at you Holmgang abusers). Now you just have to prepare a funeral for whoever got caught up in the endless CC.

The old PvP system had some balancing issues for sure. Some jobs were clearly stronger than others. But looking back on it, it wasn't too bad. Most jobs had a defining trait and served a purpose (even if the balancing was primarily based on The Feast). Meaning some jobs had CC, damage, defence or heals. Obviously there was a mix of CC and the job type but it wasn't as bad as it is today.

The current PvP system is unfit for FL and RW in my opinion. There's too many skills/spells and abilities that can completely shut you down in FL and there's just a huge discrepancy when it comes to job balancing in FL. In comparison to the old system, you had to actually line up Night Wing and Painflare correctly. If someone messed this up, your attack failed. Healers could still Purify if they got hit by it and dish out some heals so all wasn't lost. Now it's like, oh my bad I got Salted Earth, better guard up, oh wait, now I get hit by RPR and DNC Limit Break for X amount of seconds and can't do anything. It's not fun. You can CC the DRK all you want, you are going to get Salted Earth one way or the other. This is most likely one of the key reasons why Rival Wings is deactivated and will stay deactivated. I don't ever see them activating it again with this mess currently.

My only wish is that SE would have separate PvP system for RW and FL. That would be great. But I know this is too much to ask.

I wonder how most people feel about this PvP system to be honest. People play it sure but I wonder what people have to say about it. It's kind of hard to get any good feedback for it since most don't care about it. But again, this is coming from someone who plays solo queue most of the time. Some solo matches really are soul crushing on JP.

Totally agree with you.

PVP Healing in the old days was a lot of fun. Now it's very blah. I just feel like more of a dps who throws out an occasional heal once in a while.

The new PVP was tuned for the 5 vs 5 crystalinne arenas. 24 vs 24 is simply as you say, stun lock city for healers.

DPS jobs are a little different since you are not as targeted, but I want to heal.

Yeah, they're trying to appease players who don't like healing in general. There has always been a huge emphasis on Healers in PvP which is why they added Medical Kit. I think this addition alleviated alot of headaches in FL rather than Feast. You could do alot more without having to rely too much on Healers. But I guess it wasn't enough so they went the this route.

This new system has just made it more frustrating to play FL for me personally. Not to dismiss CC, I think many players enjoy it.
