今回はキャラクターの自己紹介を書いてみたいと思いました。でも書き始めたらバカ長くなっちまったので、キャラクターを作るまでの自己紹介となります。ゲームに入ってからの事は次回書きます。
This time I was planning to do my character self-introduction. But once I started writing things got out of hand so it’ll only be everything I thought of up to when you actually finish character creation. The introduction of my character and what they do inside the game will be next time

「え？キャラクター自己紹介が長い？名前・種族・ジョブしか言う事ねえんじゃねえの？」
“What? Your self-introduction’s too long? What else is there to say besides name, race and job?”
そう思う人はおそらく多いと思います。でもオレみたいの(ちょっと変な)人がいるかも知れない。それはキャラクターを作る前に数時間勉強してたし、キャラクタークリエイターにも数時間かかった人です。
I think a lot of people are probably thinking that. But (slightly weird) people such as myself might exist too. Those who spent several hours studying and preparing before even starting character creation, and then several more hours on character creation itself.
もし他にオレみたいに考え(過ぎ)た人がいたらコメントして下さい。自分一人だけが怪しいやつだと思わんようにお願いします🥺。
If there’s anyone else out there who (over)thought their way through character creation then please leave a comment. That way I won’t think that I’m the only weirdo.
まずはザイールさんの「どうしてルガディンなの？」から始まります。種族を選ぶ時はフリトラ中だったからヴィエラとロスガルは最初からアウトだった。ヒューランはただの人間だからできればどのゲームにも選ばない。ミコッテ？人気が有りすぎるし、猫娘フェチじゃないから断る。アウラメスは小さすぎるし、人気もあるからいや。それにしっぽには興味がない。
First up I will answer Zaire’s question: “Why Roegadyn?” When I thought about race I was on a free trial so Viera and Hrothgar were already out. Hyurans are just humans and I don’t pick them in any game if I can help it. Miqo’te? Too popular and I don’t have a cat girl fetish. Au Ra females are tiny and too popular. I also don’t like tails much.
ララフェルは人気あるし、チビすぎる。あっ、他人がララフェルだったら超カワイイと思いますが、オレには合わない。ララフェル好きな方はオレを嫌わらないで下さいよ〜❗️
Lalafell are too popular and too tiny. Oh, when other people play as Lalafell I think it’s really cute but it’s not for me. Please don’t hate me if you love Lalafell❗️
キャラクターデータを見るとララフェルは日本サーバーをヨーロッパとアメリカのサーバーに比べると日本では約4倍数多くララフェルがいるそうです。
Looking at the character statistics it appears that Lalafell are about 4 times as popular on Japanese servers compared to NA or EU.
じゃあ、二つしか残ってない。両方身長が高くて、あんまり人気がないエレゼンとルガディン。キャラ・クリをいじってみたらエレゼンはちょっと細長すぎるような気がしたし、ルガの方がもっと美人だし、イイ体型もしてるし、強そうに見えるし、カッコイイな〜としか言えない。
Well, I guess that leaves two. Both Roegadyn and Elezen are tall and unpopular. I felt as if Elezen were a bit long and stretched in the character creator while Roegadyn looked more beautiful, had better bodies, looked strong and look cool is pretty much all I could say about them.
ルガメスはボーナスは一番数少ない人種性別の組み合わせだから目立つ！最後にネットで調べたらルガディンのバックストーリーを読んだら「合う！」と思いました。
As an added bonus for Femroe, they are the least popular race/gender combination so they stick out! Finally, I also read the lore or backstory for Roegadyn and thought it really fit well too.
ここでもう一事言わないとダメ。それはなんで男性じゃなくて女性キャラなの？15年前に初MMOを初めた時に友達と遊ぼうとしたら、なぜか「女性キャラだけ」のギルド(FC) に入ってた。その日から全キャラはいつも女性です。
I also need to say one other thing. Why female instead of male characters? When I started playing my first MMO about 15 years ago with a friend, for some reason he was in a guild which only allowed female characters. I’ve been playing them ever since.
種族だけでもう数時間かかってしもた。でもやっと終わった。よかった。
It took several hours, but I finally chose a race. Finally! Good.
え？ローエンガルデとゼーヴォルフ？
What? Lohengarde/Hellsguard or Sea Wolf?
なんじゃそりゃ～?!!
What the hell is that?!!ネットで三十分以上調べた後…
30 minutes later, after checking the net...
よーし。オレみたいなハーフにしよ。ローエンガルデを選ぶけどもっとゼーヴォルフに似合いそうな白い肌。オレの頭ん中にはローエンガルデの父とゼーヴォルフの母がいる。
Alright. I’m gonna make them a halfie like me. I’ll choose Hellsguard but make the skin tone light which appears more similar to a Sea Wolf. In my head I’m thinking a Hellsguard father and a Sea Wolf mother.
それも名前に関係ある。ゼーヴォルフはもっと伝統的なルガディン語の名前を使ってるそうだし、ローエンガルデはエオルゼア語(英語)の名前を使うそうです。じゃ、オレのキャラは父から下の名前のSidを使うようになって、母から名字のBhirfacewynを使うようになった。
That’s related to the name too. Sea Wolves typically have more traditional Roegadyn names while Hellsguard more often use Eorzean (English) names. So my character is called Sid because of their father and Bhirfacewyn because of their mother.
じゃ、Sid Bhirfacewynは何て読む？
So, how do you even read Sid Bhirfacewyn?
今まで「シドと呼んで下さい」と言ってますが、それは日本語の発音。英語だったらもっと「セィッド」や「セィド」に近い。名字のBhirfacewynは英語とルガディン語を混ぜて、ビアファセウィンと読みます。
Up until now I’ve been saying call me Sid with the Japanese pronunciation of Shido. In English it’s closer to Sido or Sidd. The family name of Bhirfacewyn is a mixture of English and Roegadyn, to be pronounced relatively phonetically as bi-a-fa-se-win.
〜wynはルガディン語で「〜の娘」と言う意味で、bhirはネットで調べたルガディン語で大好きな「ビール」🍺だそうです。ファセはフェイス「顔」をちょっとルガっぽく発音を変えたんです。名字は「ビール顔の娘」と言う意味になりますね。Beerfaceも昔からゲームキャラに使ってます。
〜wyn in Roegadyn means daughter of〜, and bhir is apparently how to say beer in Roe. face (pronounced closer to fa-say) is just face which I tweaked to sound a bit more Roe. Put together it means Daughter of Beerface. I’ve been using this name in game characters for ages too.
体型や顔などはほとんど「ブサイクにならないように…」としか考えてない。一つだけちょっと考えたのは目の色です。
The body and face were just a matter of trying to make it not too ugly. The only thing I thought about a bit were the eyes.
左と右が違う色になっている事に気づきましたか？それもハーフにするようにしました。左目は赤。今その目だけを見ると何かに似ていませんか？真ん中が赤で周りが白。
Did you notice that my character’s eyes are different colours? That too is because I’m half. The left eye is red. If you look at just that eye does it look similar to anything you recognise? Red in the middle and surrounded by white?
そう、日本の国旗です！右の方は白くて、オレの白人のハーフのためにそうしました。だって、オーストラリアの国旗の目の色は無理だから。
That’s right, it’s a Japanese flag! The right eye represents my ‘white’ or Caucasian half. Since it’s impossible to put an Australian flag as an eye.
…とエオルゼアに入る前の自己紹介はここまでになります。やっと。またとんでもないように書きすぎたな。
...so talk about my self-introduction up until entering Eorzea’s up to here. Finally. I’ve gone and written way too much again, haven’t I?
最近ゲーム内でやった事について少し話します。新生⒉0とパッチ⒉1をクリアしました！まだまだこれからです。今からメインストーリーをどんどん進めたいと思います。そうしたらまたサブジョブやサブクエストなどに戻りたいと考えてます。
I’ll quickly mention what I’ve been doing in game. I cleared patch 2.0 (the base game) and 2.1! There’s still a long way to go. I now plan to push through more of the Main Story Quest. After that I’ll try to come back to more of the sub quests and sub jobs too.
最後質問一つ聞きたいのです。今リテイナーを二人手に入れる事ができたんですが、どのジョブにしたらいいか悩んでいます。二人以上に増やさないと思いますので、ずっと二人だけだったらどのジョブを選ぶといいですか？コメントをお願いします。
I have a question for readers out there. I’m now able to get two retainers but I’m not sure what jobs I should give them. I don’t plan to ever get more than two retainers so which jobs should I go with for them. Please leave a comment.
