I seriously cannot stand healers that "focus DPS" all while letting the tank drop well below 50% HP because they're too busy casting stone, malefic, or ruin spells..
Literally I was playing my AST and one of the DPS in the dungeon told me, "as a healer, you should focus DPS" this is in a level 30 duty... No wonder there are so many awful healers, they get told things like this! When I replied with that it wasn't my style, that I like to keep players topped off with HP... Of course the DPS and then the tank both agreed that FF wasn't like WoW *which I've played 3 days of*, and that it was meant to have healers dps like that...
Blah fooey! If a person signs up to HEAL as a HEALER roll in a party.. THEN HEAL! -_- I swear it makes me so mad seeing healers let DPS and tanks keep status debuff, as though Esuna doesn't exist.... What is wrong with the players who choose healer and then never heal until everyone's 25% HP... like the crummy healer DPS is not worth letting 3 other DPS die in alliance raid...
If everyone's topped off in HP then fine.. DPS as a healer so one isn't bored... but if everyone's missing HP.. then heal.. is all I'm sayin.
Ah snap you got me... I have taken the click bait on this post. The game was designed with the idea that healers will dps in the off time. There are tons of points I can make and have made in other raiding blogs that support this idea. Most of the damage in this game is 100% scripted. In dungeons tanks take a certain amount of fluff damage that most of the time regens alone can negate. Then you simply have busters and raid wide damage.
Most of that damage can be handled with a simple aoe heal or aoe hot heal. Most busters can be handled with one GCD heal or later on the preferred is one OGCD heal. Even on a raid level its nothing for healers to put out nearly half of what a capable dps is able to do. Without healer dps in raid enviorments the dps checks would be nearly impossible if not impossible at min ilvl. Just because you have a idea of what a job should be doesn't mean that is what it was intended to be.
I'm not sure if you are serious about this or not with an 80 white mage...Holy/Glare/Afflatus Misery/Assize /Stone :D
I totally get you...my healer happened to be made on a preferred server plus had the earing from pre ordering. So I was level 45 by the time I MET the sylphs. My level did NOT reflect my ability.
So when I finally did runs, it took a bit to get a rhythm. Most times I'm okay doing some dps but how I go about it is completely dependent on the tank. Pulling everything immediately &rushing through leads to my never dpsing because I cannot trust in the tank's awareness of my MP. Good tank=good heal
Fair enough Sol. I can see your point. With the exp gains you are leveling faster than you are learning what things do, and how to utilize them properly. Makes sense.
As for healer DPS, if the tank's life is dropping fast best believe only healing is happening. If the tank is garbage, I'm throwing dps and healing..f*&$ em. If the tank is cycling cool downs, not wearing Gathering earrings and crafting pants BEST BELIEVE I'm throwing as much dps as I can.
