Patch 5.1 Notes

We are proud to present the patch notes for Vows of Virtue, Deeds of Cruelty, which follows the Scions' continued adventures on the First, and features the first installment in the new alliance raid series, YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse, courtesy of guest creators Yosuke Saito and YOKO TARO!

This patch also sees the beginning of the overhaul to crafting and gathering, with further updates planned for Patch 5.2.

* Additional features will be implemented in future updates:
* The Epic of Alexander (Ultimate) and Ishgardian Restoration are scheduled to be released in Patch 5.11.
* Blue mage updates and Onsal Hakair (Danshig Naadam) are scheduled to be released in Patch 5.15.

FINAL FANTASY XIV Patch 5.1

Patch 5.1 contains content that can only be accessed by registering the expansion packs for FINAL FANTASY XIV to your service account. To distinguish between adjustments that are and are not affected by the registration of these expansions, the following notations will be used throughout the patch notes:

Quest Sync

The pixie beast tribe main quests and daily quests will employ an automatic level adjustment system known as quest sync, which will match the difficulty of the battles to the player's current job and class levels. Any experience received upon the completion of these quests will be adjusted accordingly. Furthermore, certain quests will not allow players to proceed with a class or job that is different than when they accepted them.

Beast Tribe Daily Quests

To unlock pixie daily quests, players must first complete the beast tribe quest "Manic Pixie Dream Realm."

Beastmen Currency

Players can earn Fae Fancies by completing pixie daily quests. The number of Fae Fancies currently held is displayed in the Currency window.

Beast Tribe Vendors

The vendor for pixies will be unlocked upon completing the quest "Manic Pixie Dream Realm."

Players can now revisit previously completed quests and cutscenes via New Game+.

Chapters

In New Game+ mode, the story is divided into various chapters. As you progress through the game and complete certain quests, new chapters will automatically be unlocked.

Accessing New Game+

From the main menu, select Duty, then New Game+. A list of replayable chapters will be displayed. Upon completion of the final quest in a given chapter, you will automatically exit New Game+ mode.

Suspending New Game+

Certain game features will become unavailable while playing in New Game+ mode.

To temporarily exit New Game+ mode and regain access to these features, open the New Game+ interface by selecting New Game+ under Duty in the main menu, then select Suspend.

The following restrictions will be in effect while playing in New Game+ mode.

  • You cannot register for new duties you have yet to complete.
    * You may still register for duties you have yet to complete provided they are related to quests currently in progress in New Game+ mode.
    * While it is possible to enter New Game+ mode while registering for a duty, commencement of said duty will automatically suspend New Game+ mode. Please resume New Game+ from your suspended data after completing the duty.
  • You cannot interact with the market board or retainer bells, as well as certain NPCs and objects.
  • You cannot access the Unending Journey.

The difficulty of certain instance battles in main scenario quests has been reduced.

Players can now choose the difficulty of quest instance battles.

The option to choose a difficulty will be displayed upon defeat or when replaying the battle.
* This option will not be displayed in the event you log out of the game after being defeated.

Difficulty Settings

  • Normal
    Duty difficulty remains unchanged.
  • Easy
    Gain the power of the Echo, increasing your maximum HP, damage dealt, and healing magic potency by 50%. Certain duties will also adjust the parameters of ally NPCs, enemies, and battle mechanics.
  • Very Easy
    Gain the power of the Echo, increasing your maximum HP, damage dealt, and healing magic potency by 100%. Certain duties will also adjust the parameters of ally NPCs, enemies, and battle mechanics.

The Yagetsu Combo action has now been added to the actions available when playing as Hien in the instance battle of the main scenario quest "A Requiem for Heroes."

The parameters of enemies that appear in arcanist and summoner quests have been adjusted.

Guildleves

The number of items required for crafter and fisher leves has been adjusted.

FATEs

The maximum store of bicolor gemstones has been increased from 500 to 1,000.

The following adjustments have been made to gemstone traders:

New items are available for exchange.
The shared FATE rank required for certain items has been reduced.

Treasure Hunt

Adjustments and additions have been made to the rewards from Zonureskin Treasure Maps.

Rewards in the Dungeons of Lyhe Ghiah have been adjusted.

Grand and Free Companies

New craftable items have been added to the company workshop.

The following additions and adjustments have been made to subaquatic voyages:

New areas have been added.
New items have been added.
Maximum submersible rank has been increased from 60 to 65.

The number of items required for level 79 to 80 alchemist supply missions has been increased.

The number of items required for certain fisher supply missions has been reduced.

Housing

Wards 19 through 21 have been added to all residential districts.

A total of three wards have been added to all residential districts, each of which includes a subdivision. An apartment building has also been added to each ward, with a second apartment building available in each subdivision.

Individuals will be restricted from purchasing plots for personal use in these wards for a limited time.
* Following the release of patch 5.1, we will evaluate the housing market and decide when to remove the restriction on sales to individuals.
* Players may still purchase private estates in wards 1 through 18.
* Players may still relocate private and free company estates to the new wards.

*This change does not apply to outdoor furnishings, wheel stands, flowerpots, Gold Saucer mini-games, vendor NPCs, and mannequins.

Hyur and Elezen mannequins are now available.

To use these new designs, access a mannequin and choose "Select race and gender."

New orchestrion rolls have been added.

New aquarium fishes have been added.

New paintings have been added.

A new seed for flowerpots has been added.

Rewards

Steer clear of Yojimbo's attacks until the very end and you will receive 5,000 MGP. Additional MGP can be earned during the GATE when certain conditions are met.

You will fail the GATE when either struck by Yojimbo or after falling off the stage, at which time you will receive a reward commensurate to your progress in the GATE and any additional MGP earned.
* No MGP will be received when voluntarily leaving the stage.

The following adjustments have been made to GATEs:

The schedule for GATEs has been adjusted.
* The schedule can be confirmed in game by speaking with the Gold Saucer Attendant at Entrance Square (X:5.0 Y:6.7).

The GATE "Skinchange We Can Believe In" has been removed from the Gold Saucer.

The following additions and adjustments have been made to Doman mahjong:

Players can now switch to a high-resolution layout.
Select the Mahjong tab of the Gold Saucer window, then open the settings menu.

* Under certain conditions, UI size may default to 60% when first enabling this setting.

In the event you are disconnected in the middle of a game during your turn, the game will resume on your turn provided time for that hand has not expired.
An opponent list has been added.
The opponent list will display the name of players with whom you have been matched. If both you and the opponent are playing on PlayStation®4, you can also view their PSN ID.
* In accordance with this change, PSN IDs will no longer be displayed at the top of the Doman mahjong UI.

The following adjustments have been made to Triple Triad:

New cards have been added.
New NPC opponents for Triple Triad have been added.

Miscellaneous

Once all Avatar NPCs have reached level 80, scenario mode will become available. This mode may be used to challenge main scenario dungeons with Avatar NPCs that appear in their associated quests.

Using Scenario mode, you may challenge the new main scenario dungeons with Avatar NPCs that appear in the latest main scenario quests.
* Avatar NPCs will not gain experience points in Scenario mode.

The following additions and adjustments have been made to performance actions.

A metronome has been added.
A new settings tab has been added to the Performance Settings menu.
An Ensemble Ready Check function is now available when performing in a party.
The ready check is shared between all party members in Performance mode, and will start a metronome counter when everyone is ready.

Using Ensemble Ready Check

Once the party leader has chosen to initiate an ensemble ready check via the metronome, the ready check settings screen will appear. Once the desired settings have been selected, the ensemble ready check can be initiated.

Initiating the ready check will send a notification to all party members.
* Players will be marked not ready if they fail to respond to the ready check within 15 seconds.

Ensemble mode has been added.
This feature helps ensure all party members will be heard in sync by players in the vicinity.

Accessing Ensemble Mode

From the ready check menu, select Enter Ensemble Mode then commence the ready check.

Setting playback type to Self Only will mute the performance of party members.

Setting playback type to All Members will play the instruments of all party members with an increased delay.

All notes can now be displayed even when using a gamepad or controller.
This option can be toggled on or off via the Keyboard Settings tab of the Performance Settings menu.
Players can now toggle between keyboard and gamepad button display.
Players can now display gamepad inputs on-screen.
Players can now practice using the performance assist function.
Learn to play select songs by following key prompts as they appear on your screen.

Accessing Performance Assistance

From the Performance menu, select Performance Assistance to display a list of songs you may practice. You can then adjust the music tempo, and choose whether or not you wish to use a metronome.

Once you begin, the Keyboard UI (as well as the gamepad display if enabled) will highlight the keys you must press in time with your selected tempo.

A new settings tab has been added to the Performance Settings menu.

Prizes available in exchange for Khloe's Gold Certificate of Commendation, Khloe's Silver Certificate of Commendation, and Khloe's Bronze Certificate of Commendation have been adjusted.
Eden's Gate has been added to Wondrous Tails.

The GARO Collaboration has ended. As such, players will no longer be able to obtain GARO-inspired PvP gear, mounts, titles, and achievements.

This includes items available from the disreputable priest at the Wolves’ Den Pier (X:5.0 Y:5.3), the Gold Saucer attendant at the Gold Saucer (X:5.4 Y:6.6), and rewards associated with the Fatal Feast, Frontline Fury, and Furious Fatalities achievements.

Any gear you have previously earned by unlocking the associated achievement can still be obtained from the Calamity Salvager after Patch 5.1.

Hellfrog Medium Potency has been reduced from 400 to 200.
Potency no longer reduced after the first enemy.
Ninki Gauge cost has been reduced from 80 to 50.
Bhavacakra Potency has been reduced from 500 to 300.
Ninki Gauge cost has been reduced from 80 to 50.
Ten Chi Jin The effects of this action have been revamped.
Ten Chi Jin now functions as follows:
Temporarily converts each of the three mudra into a ninjutsu action. Executing one of these actions will convert the remaining mudra into different ninjutsu actions until all three have been executed or the Ten Chi Jin effect expires.
Duration: 6s
Only ninjutsu available while active.
The same ninjutsu cannot be executed twice.
Cannot be executed while under the effect of Kassatsu.
Effect ends upon moving.
Recast time has been increased from 100 to 120 seconds.
Meisui Increase to Ninki Gauge has been changed from 40 to 50.
Recast time has been increased from 60 to 120 seconds.
Goka Mekkyaku Potency has been increased from 400 to 750.
Now triggers the cooldown of weaponskills, mudra, and Ninjutsu upon execution.
Recast time has been reduced from 20 to 1.5 seconds.
Hyosho Ranryu Potency has been increased from 600 to 1,200.
Now triggers the cooldown of weaponskills, mudra, and Ninjutsu upon execution.

Bunshin The effects of this action have been revamped.
Bunshin now functions as follows:
Grants 5 stacks of Bunshin, each stack allowing your shadow to attack enemies each time you execute a weaponskill.
Duration has been increased from 15 to 30 seconds.
Increase to Ninki Gauge per attack has been changed from 4 to 5.
Ninki Gauge cost has been reduced from 80 to 50.
Recast time has been reduced from 110 to 90 seconds.
The Bunshin status icon will now display the number of attacks remaining for your shadow.
Shukiho Increase to Ninki Gauge has been reduced from 6 to 5.
Shukiho II Increase to Ninki Gauge has been changed from 8 to 10.
Requirement has been changed from landing any weaponskill or successfully completing any combo to landing Shadow Fang or successfully completing a combo with Aeolian Edge or Armor Crush.

Samurai

Action Adjustment
Meditate The maximum number of stacks gained has been reduced from 5 to 3.
The Meditation status effect no longer has a duration.
Now triggers the cooldown of weaponskills upon execution and cannot be executed during weaponskill cooldown.
Hagakure Increase to Kenki Gauge has been changed from 5 to 10.
Tsubame-gaeshi The cooldown of weaponskills when executing this action is now affected by skill speed.
Shoha Potency is now fixed at 400.
Requirement for execution is now fixed at 3 stacks of Meditation.
Recast time has been increased from 1 to 15 seconds.
Higanbana The additional effect "Grants a stack of Meditation, up to a maximum of 3" has been added.
Tenka Goken The additional effect "Grants a stack of Meditation, up to a maximum of 3" has been added.
Midare Setsugekka The additional effect "Grants a stack of Meditation, up to a maximum of 3" has been added.
Kaeshi: Higanbana The additional effect "Grants a stack of Meditation, up to a maximum of 3" has been added.
Kaeshi: Goken The additional effect "Grants a stack of Meditation, up to a maximum of 3" has been added.
Kaeshi: Setsugekka The additional effect "Grants a stack of Meditation, up to a maximum of 3" has been added.
Jinpu Combo potency has been reduced from 340 to 320.

Yukikaze Combo potency has been reduced from 400 to 360.
Meikyo Shisui The Meikyo Shisui status icon will now display the number of weaponskills that can be executed without combo requirements.

Archer / Bard

Action Adjustment
Mage's Ballad The additional effect "Grants Mage's Ballad to all party members within 30 yalms, increasing their damage dealt by 1%" has been added.
Army's Paeon The additional effect "Grants Army's Paeon to all party members within 30 yalms, increasing their direct hit rate by 3%" has been added.
The Wanderer's Minuet The additional effect "Grants the Wanderer's Minuet to all party members within 30 yalms, increasing their critical hit rate by 2%" has been added.
Sidewinder Potency for one effect has been increased from 175 to 200.
Potency for two effects has been increased from 260 to 300.

After acquiring the items to enhance your equipment, either from Xylle or Fathard, speak with Shee-Tatch in Eulmore (X:10.3 Y:12.0) and exchange them for augmented gear of your choice.

Players will now receive the power of the Echo in the event all party members are incapacitated during the following trials:

The Dancing Plague / The Crown of the Immaculate / The Dying Gasp

Each time players restart the aforementioned trials, their maximum HP, damage dealt, and healing potency will be increased by 10%, increasing with each restart up to a maximum of 50%. If a player restarts after battling for less than three minutes, they will not be granted this effect.

The Dancing Plague (Extreme) / The Crown of the Immaculate (Extreme)

Each time players restart the aforementioned trials, their maximum HP, damage dealt, and healing potency will be increased by 5%, increasing with each restart up to a maximum of 25%. If a player restarts after battling for less than three minutes, they will not be granted this effect.

The Orbonne Monastery

The Echo will take effect upon entering the Orbonne Monastery, increasing players' maximum HP, damage dealt, and healing potency by 10%. Unlike other instances, the strength of the Echo will not increase in the event all party members are incapacitated.

Players can now use the Undersized Party option to participate in the Great Hunt and the Great Hunt (Extreme).

Hovering your mouse over the crafting condition in the crafting window will now display an explanation of the status.

Quick synthesis has been adjusted as follows:

Quick synthesis will no longer fail, provided you meet the recommended craftsmanship requirement.
Increases to control will now provide reasonable improvements to the chance of receiving high quality items.
When using quick synthesis to craft more than one of an item, the time required per synthesis has been reduced.

Crafter delineations used to execute certain crafting actions have been consolidated into a single item.

In accordance with this change, the following items are no longer obtainable.

Desynthesis can no longer fail, regardless of your desynthesis level.
* The requirements to unlock desynthesis have not been changed.
The combined total level limit for desynthesis has been removed.
As a result of this change, desynthesis levels can no longer go down, and it is possible to level desynthesis to maximum for all crafting classes.
When your desynthesis level is higher than that of the item you are desynthesizing, the number of items yielded is increased, and there is a chance to procure rare items.
The leveling rate for desynthesis has been increased.
The level cap for desynthesis has been increased from 450 to 460.
The "Careful Desynthesis" parameter has been changed to "Desynthesis Skill Gain."

Fellowships, a new means for likeminded players to join together, have been added.

Fellowships are gatherings of players who share common interests. Including players designated as the master and admins, fellowships permit up to 1,000 members.

Fellowships are cross-world, and you can belong to a maximum of ten at any given time.

Creating a Fellowship

Select Fellowships under Social in the main menu, then from the Fellowships window select Create Fellowship.

Joining and Searching for Fellowships

  • Invitations
    You can be invited to join a fellowship by either the master or admins of a fellowship. Once invited, you will be designated as an invitee. By opening the Fellowship window and selecting the fellowship to which you were invited, you can choose to accept the invitation and become a member.
  • Fellowship Finder
    Select Fellowship Finder under Social in the main menu to view a list of fellowships that are searching for members. You can filter by activities and language, and exclude any you have already joined from the search results.

Features of Fellowships

The primary features of fellowships are the posting of notices by the masters and admins, member polls, and the message board.

General Tab

  • Message of the Day and Notices
    Here the fellowship master and admin members can relay important messages to all members of the Fellowship.
  • Poll
    Here the fellowship master and admin members can create anonymous polls to field questions to all members of the fellowship. The poll automatically updates with the number of members who answered each option.

The master and admins can select Recruitment to create a new listing in the Fellowship Finder. When viewing the list of fellowships you have joined, a marker next to their name indicates an update on its General tab.

Message Board Tab

All fellowship members can post comments to the message board. Up to 100 comments are displayed, with the oldest being deleted first. The fellowship master and admin members can delete comments at any time.

Members Tab

Displays the list of fellowship members. Here the fellowship master can carry out various administrative tasks such as appointing admin members and transferring master privileges. It is also possible to blacklist players. Doing so removes them from the fellowship and prevents them from rejoining in the future.

A clear distinction will be set between battle mentors and trade mentors.

Mentors who do not renew within the specified period will be unable to access the following features:

  • Duty Roulette: Mentor
  • The ability to change online status to PvE Mentor, PvP Mentor, or Trade Mentor.

They will, however, still be able to participate in the Novice Network chat channel. An icon will indicate that they are a mentor who has yet to renew their certification.

Settings to hide the HUD will be disabled when skipping cutscenes.

The log message displayed when obtaining Allied Seals, Centurion Seals, Sacks of Nuts, Wolf Marks, and Bicolor Gemstones has been adjusted.

The options displayed when confirming a friend request have been adjusted.

The following adjustments have been made to targeting:

Character selection when using the directional buttons of a gamepad can now be changed from target circle to target select.

A confirmation prompt will now appear when canceling a report via the Support Desk.

An error message is now displayed when character data files are set to "read only" on the client machine.

An error code will now be displayed when the client fails to back up your configuration data.

In order to alleviate stress on the servers, players who cancel the queue on the login screen must now wait 30 seconds before reentering the queue.

If a prompt displays stating the World is full, you will be logged in automatically once you reach the front of the queue.

The list of Worlds on the Character Selection screen will now be listed in alphabetical order.

The game launcher has been revamped. (Windows/PlayStation®4)

In addition to changes to the design, the server status displayed in the launcher will now be synched with that found on the Lodestone.

The Windows version will have a brief transition period wherein players may freely switch between the old and new launcher layouts.
* The option to switch layouts can be found in the Config menu.
* The launcher for the Mac version will be revamped in a future update.

The following adjustments have been made to the Home World Transfer Service.

The limit on the amount of gil one may transfer has been increased from 10 million to 999,999,999 gil for both characters and retainers, regardless of the destination World's classification.
Players may now use this service even when designated as a housemate.
* Your character will be automatically removed from any shared estates they belong to.
Players may now use this service even when their characters are in possession of an expired ceremony invitation or blank invitation.
* Please note the invitation will not be discarded.
* You cannot use this service if you are in possession of an invitation to a ceremony that is yet to be held.

Resolved Issues

  • The following issues have been addressed.
    • An issue in certain duties where pet command actions would not properly activate but would still trigger the cooldown under certain conditions.
      * As the result of addressing this issue, the pet status “Summon Order” that would display under certain conditions will no longer appear.
    • An issue wherein completing an instanced dungeon with Trusts as a tank job counted towards certain achievements.
    • An issue wherein using the summoner PvE action Fester immediately after inflicting a damage over time effect caused Fester to have no effect.
    • An issue wherein the additional effect of the white mage PvP action Dia could be stacked.
    • An issue wherein the astrologian PvE action Horoscope would not upgrade to Horoscope Helios upon receiving the effect of Helios or Aspected Helios.
    • An issue wherein the visual effects for the astrologian PvE actions Horoscope and Divination would not display correctly.
    • An issue wherein the recast time for the scholar PvE action Seraphic Veil is affected by spell speed.
    • An issue wherein the gunbreaker PvP action Rough Divide was executable even when bound.
    • An issue wherein the healer PvP additional action Protect would reduce damage from Adrenaline Rush actions.
    • An issue wherein the help text for certain job actions was displayed incorrectly.
      *Their effects have not been changed.
    • An issue in Frontline matches where taking damage while mounted did not result in being afflicted with the Limp status effect under certain conditions.
    • An issue wherein the appearance of the Mameshiba Earring did not display correctly under certain conditions.
    • An issue wherein the number of materials received after desynthesizing the Facet Mail of Fending was incorrect.
    • An issue wherein the materia received after converting an Augmented Mineking’s Pickaxe, Augmented Fieldking’s Hatchet, or Augmented Tackleking’s Rod were incorrect.
    • An issue wherein crests were not displayed properly on certain gear.
    • An issue wherein certain items were listed with the incorrect Disciple of the Hand requirements for repair and desynthesis.
    • An issue wherein the fisher action Identical Cast could be used consecutively under certain conditions.
    • An issue wherein the amount of experience points awarded to mentors and new adventurers when in a party together was incorrect.
    • An issue wherein newly acquired actions were not added to the hotbar.
    • An issue wherein certain graphics would not be displayed if the UI was disabled during certain cutscenes.
    • An issue wherein item search results would sometimes retrieve data from other characters saved on the same client.

Other various issues have also been addressed.

Known Issues

  • An issue wherein the statuses applied by the PvE actions Living Shadow (dark knight), Bunshin (ninja), Rook Autoturret and Automaton Queen (machinist) can be removed by performing certain actions.
  • An issue wherein a large section of the Nabaath Severance in Amh Araeng is displayed incorrectly.
  • An issue in the Copied Factory alliance raid dungeon wherein, under certain conditions, players outside of the battle area are able to use pets to heal those inside.
  • An issue in the Copied Factory alliance raid dungeon wherein some NPC names are displayed incorrectly in the French version of the game.
  • An issue wherein registering for a duty via the Duty Finder and having a player drop out after matching has completed may cause the number of players to be displayed as 0 in the "Checking member status..." window.
    This issue affects the display only. The Duty Finder itself functions as normal and will attempt to match you with another player.
  • An issue wherein the Butcher's Stall furnishing's hanging meat is displayed incorrectly at certain times of day.
  • An issue wherein the Baker's Stall furnishing item's bread is displayed incorrectly.
  • An issue in residential districts wherein the names of certain wards are displayed incorrectly.
