Elza'to originally lived in the Black Shroud region of Eorzea. He grew up during the time of the Calamity. After things had calmed down and his family and community had a chance to recover from the chaos, he decided to set out on his own as an adventurer.

From an early age he has a mystical connection to nature and the magic it offers to the conjurer, so it only made sense to travel to Gridania and petition for membership in the conjurer's guild there. He has plans to become a white mage.
