A stranger in a new land. That would best sum up Daphne Tamaris, who was born as Boljigchi Qerel in The Steppes and found herself drawn westward to Eorzea over the years. She undertook her journey as she reached adulthood, understanding that this was a break from her tribe and its traditional isolationist stance. Over the course of her journey, she adpoted the name she goes by now, if only to make it easier for non-Xaela to converse with her and not stumble upon her birth name.
Upon arriving in Eorzea by way of the routes used by Ala Mighan refugees, she first made her way to Gridania due to learning of their ways of the bow and her own talents for it. As she grew in stature despite the xenophobic tenor of the nation, she found herself travelling to other parts of the subcontinent and finds herself spending more time now in Ul'Dah due to its friendlier and more populous nature.
She finds Eorzeans to be puzzling and curious, and spends much of her free time people-watching to try to discern more about them. She comes across as distant and aloof, but she can warm up to people as she gets to know them.
