I thought I should pen down my thoughts for posterity so here goes…
Started raiding with my FC first time during Dawntrail’s Cruiserweight tier! They were very lax and accepting of me as a beginner. We didn’t have a strict schedule to follow, just as and when everyone’s available. I was doing MT exclusively as Warrior and so far I have done M5S to M7S. M8S might be too hard for me 😭…
- Loot system seems weird to me. I never understood why helpers want to do a raid without any loot.
- Gearing and melding is a complete black box to me, I basically followed xivgear to the T without knowing what’s going on.
- PF can be quite merciless, as there is not much room for error before people get blacklisted. I only join fresh parties when practicing for a fight solo because they are more forgiving. I feel bad for everyone who was blacklisted 😢
- DPS checks are a huge problem for me. I basically have to be hard-carried every time. I think I might need months of practice before I can get decent DPS.😵💫
To be honest, I thought about giving up almost every week. While learning the mechanics can be fun, the process is quite demoralising. And even after learning the mechanics, there is still a DPS check to meet. Everyone seems just very … sweaty? I try to meet expectations from the people who offered advice 🙏 but sometimes I am not be able to achieve what was asked of me…

you mean learning a puzzle xx) well not gonna lie it's how they feel at the end just learn puzzles and how to keep your rotation. as much as I love this game the "mechanic" aren't really deep other then dodging or tower sometime a stack/spread.
I need to pay full attention to know whether to dodge in or out for the tankbuster so I don’t kill my whole team 😓( looking at you M6S and M7S)
