Born in Doma, he enjoyed climbing trees and cliffsides to veer into the vastness of the land, wanting nothing more than to witness the mysteries the world had to offer. As an orphan boy, his independence and maturity grew quickly as he longed to venture out into the unknown, exploring yalms of wilderness at a young age. In turn, he developed self-preservation.
As years passed in working odd jobs, Nareko developed an affinity for helping the citizens of outlying Doman villages. He felt a sense of calling to defend the ways of life and freedom of the oppressed. Nareko had hoped to liberate them from the empire, but he needed more strength. Thus he stowed away on a ship bound for Eorzea, where he heard of guilds and aetherial magicks.
Upon arrival, Nareko witnessed a chocobo farm under attack by Imperial partrol a few yalms from Baelsar's Wall - the young Hyur acted before he could think. Only moments too late, he witnessed Garlean soldiers slaughter an Elezen family and chocobos in the stables. Meanwhile, a mysteriously masked Miqo'te dragoon possessing the Echo hearkened to the crystal's power nearby.
He watched as Nareko picked up the farmer's spear and engaged all four soldiers. Enraged with what the Garleans have done, he fought ferociously. He slayed three before becoming wounded. Before the killing blow was struck, the mysterious dragoon drove his Gae Bolg through the last imperial. The adventurer revealed that he had sensed the light in Nareko, and spoke of Dragoons and elder dragons to him. Meanwhile, the lesser moon Dalamud grew, eclipsing above the Eorzean sky.

Hearing rumours of the rallying Garlean forces against the united Grand Companies, Nareko watched from atop the battlefield only to witness helplessly in awe at the sheer destruction laying the realm low by the great wyrm. When all seemed lost, he witnessed a spear of light impale through Bahamut, scattering the primal's essence through the Aether. He hoped to one day to wield a spear of light much like it to fight against such forces. It was in that moment when he heard a voice.
"Hear, Feel, Think"
5 years later, he woke upon the battlefield of Cartenau, the realm seemingly reborn. The flickering of aether crystals danced in the distance as the sun refracted against them. His spirit livened to see the land in such a beautiful state as an urge came over him to venture through it.
Nareko heard the call of adventuring in passing following the Calamity. He set out to rebuild the realm and it's people, and hopefully, fight the machinations of the Garlean empire and set his village free. He recalled the story the mysterious Dragoon spoke to him of, and set his sights to become the Dragoon of legend - the Azure Dragoon.
Following this call, he set on a wagon headed for The Twelveswood's Black Shroud, and the city state of Gridania...
