Venice Lysander, formerly known as Venezia bas Mercius, hails from a small coastal village on the continent of Ilsabard. She used to be the bassist in the five-piece punk band known as Coeurl Calamity before her band-mates were pursued by the Garlean military and eventually executed for instigating sedition with their very anti-government lyrics. As the last remaining survivor, she made a new life for herself on the opposite side of Baelsar's Wall, though she struggled to learn the discipline of archery on her own. In Gridania, she gave up the bow for the staff, finding that despite her heritage that she was fully capable of casting magic. She continues to explore Eorzea and beyond, doing whatever an adventurer must to get by, looking for the right moment to pick up an instrument once more. Above all else, Venice values freedom for all people, she will do anything to uncover the truths that will allow others to make their own choices.
