Before that, I would like to thank Meoni personally for indirectly giving me ideas to do my own fave mounts. Also recommend to
watch his video about it as well. ;)
Before starting, just giving heads up that I'll also do my own honorary list. Without further ado...
10.
Flying Chair How to obtain: Crafted from Alchemist, unlock recipe from Master book V. Requires rare material 8 Cloudsbreath which came from gardening and seeds came from free company's subaquatic deployment on south isle of Zozonan
Personal note: I like how this chair making pose like a boss, at least
back on my old Highlander persona.
9.
Ginga How to obtain: Currently unobtainable, was from special GARO event which ended before patch 5.1.
Personal note: Happens to like its sentai albeit darker/thriller theme. From all 3, I like silver one's best, even though non protagonist in series unlike Gold one or the dark-antagonist version.
8.
Centurio Tiger How to obtain: Achievement reward from total slain record of 3000 rank A and 2000 rank S hunt monsters.
Personal note: It was really pain in the ass to grind, especially considering current hunt situation on my server at least. Huge major drama to deal with, but I'm finally satisfied after getting it. Albeit there's lion mount from Paladin tank achievement due to my zodiac sign (which I also got), but I do favor this tiger instead since it's much cooler. :D
7.
Great Vessel of Ronka How to obtain: Unlocked for vendor purchase from ranking high enough on Qitari tribe, released on patch 5.2. Also requires finishing series of side quests at Rak'tika Greatwood regarding this persona before able to undertake tribe story quest.
Personal note: I did find the side quest following this unique creature to be amusing and quite fond of. And to boot: it has the most awesome special mount skill!
6.
Midgardsormr How to obtain: Heavensward (3.0) main story quests.
Personal note: reasons due to heavy story spoiler...
5.
Amaro How to obtain: Achievement reward from capping all battle jobs to level 80.
Personal note: Back in Shadowbringer stories, and even particularly during one of role job quests relating to history about these creatures, and especially after meeting their great elder, I find amazement on how their faces shows great wisdom and patience, reminding me of fave grandpa.
4.
Nezha Chariot How to obtain: Purchase from mogstation.
Personal note: Famous from ancient china tale of this persona called Nezha (or Nacha from what I used to know) of this young god who flies on these pair of fiery chakrams that also serves as main weapon. I personally find this mount very unique and had to buy it. Didn't regret it since IMO the simplest form of mount traveling, especially due to lightness and much less annoying mount movement on land. This mount could be number one fave instead, especially since I used this one the most, but there's still other better mounts on following...
3.
Demi-Ozma How to obtain: Achievement for clearing Baldesion Arsenal without dying, optional end-game dungeon inside Eureka Hydatos introduced on patch 4.5 later days. Players must not be unconscious when defeating final boss or achievement became invalid.
Personal note: One of most amazing mount that I must get after seeing how it works and changes form while on land/air/underwater. And fearing what happened to that ill-fated 3.0 Diadem content, this time I'm willingly try my best to learn the ways and how it works. Dad to endure to so many failures and my own shame for sometimes bring major cause of failure due to its extreme requirements. This is practically my greatest joy for someone who haven't done raids since 2.0 when finally saw my 1st victory over this content. XD
2.
Ramuh How to obtain: Loot reward from current latest raid content in patch 5.2 - Eden's Verse: Refulgence (Savage).
Personal note: BTW, that's from a friend lending his screenshot. I might've learned my ways of doing end game content on that Baldesion Arsenal, but I'm still not a raid material. Can only hope someday able to somehow get a learning party, or... wait until next expansion where I could finally undersize it.
Anyhoo... Ramuh has always been my fave summons from past Final Fantasy series, but never have I seen this iteration which blew the chart of awesomeness! I just have to get it! I pray for the day I could finally get this, even with my huge lack of it. ^^;
1.
Legacy Chocobo How to obtain: Unobtainable. One of special reward for legacy players (1.0) who at least pay 3 months’ worth of subscription.
Personal note: It may seems not that special comparing to regular chocobo player will get during early 2.0 main quest. It has unique barding but not that special. What makes it special however, are the color on its plumes, special yellow with tip of darken ruggedness on end of its wing and tails, no current dyeing could replicate this special coloring, especially with addition of legacy tats on its beak. Always feel special whenever riding it.
======================================================================
And here's my own honorary list, sorted alphabetically, in no particular order of favourites:
>
Firebird How to obtain: Achievement quest reward after obtaining all seven lanner mounts from 3.0 extreme trial loots.
Personal note: While unrelated, this bird really reminisce of this Phoenix summon figure which…
>
Goobbue How to obtain: Currently unobtainable. Special event during 1.0 which ended several months before server closure.
Personal note: Carpet ride on back of goobbue, I still find this quite awesome. Not even the laurel version gotten from 2.0’s sylph tribe quests could do justice, albeit close enough.
>
Indigo Whale How to obtain: Purchase from mogstation.
Personal note: Another mount that I just had to get. Inspired by stories from Pinocchio or that certain biblical tale, now fashioned as another grand transportation on a luxurious carpet ride. A shame that this was designed only as two-person ride as opposed to four.
>
Old six-arms How to obtain: None.
Personal note: Ok, I’ve hinted this on my old blog, but it’s nearly a decade since then and there’s not even slightest sign of it would ever happening. I’ve always imagined riding on its back and find it awe on my first encounter back then as
hunt monster back during 1.0 as I’ve previously described. I know it’s really silly to even imagine riding on its back, but I still really fond of it, kinda reminds me of this grumpy but charming old man. :D
>
Mikoshi How to obtain: Unlocked for vendor purchase from ranking high enough on Namazu tribe, released on patch 4.3.
Personal note: Just like how Meoni described, funny how those namazus struggle on their end, think one of em already passed out. lmao
>
Ufiti How to obtain: Bought with 8400 Skybuilder scrips on NPC inside The Firmament – Ishgard renovation content introduced on patch 5.1 later days.
Personal note: This is one amusing mount on how it carries player around. lol
>
Witch's Broom How to obtain: Was obtainable from 2015’s All Saints Wake event, now purchasable from mogstation.
Personal note: Kiki’s Delivery Service, one of Studio Ghibli movies that I fond of, story about a young witch trying to make her independent live. Cat figure on tip of broom kinda just dead giveaway.
EDIT, pics for least faves, order from least to worse, details in comments due to char limit:
It was originally from what we all saw during that 1.0 opening, and alas... no more story development for really long time, until near end of 2.5 when there's finally a continuation of it's tale. And while working on 3.0 main story, I grew even fonder of its majestic figure and tale, and even further beyond. Was really ecstatic when out of my wildest dream that the great dragon would even became our permanent companion, even willingly shrunk down his gargantuan size into travel size, and every tale where it makes its own involvement, I'm always felt amazed.
It even looks kinda cute on it's even smaller travel-minion size, but same time still show its great majestic tone. :D
