Incoming! Patch 2.1!
After being level 50 for a while (Though I usually have only 1 class and 1 crafting class at max level for ANY game), I welcome this content with much gusto!

new lvl 50 dungeon, YES PLEASE!
new lvl 50 raid, YES PLEASE!
adjustments on allagan gear? oh definitely!
now... I do have some thoughts about them.. and I would like to share them.
Siren.
This lovely design shows elegance and importance.. but really? a boss for a dungeon? not even an important fight? She isnt a primal? I am ruffled!
First i guess, who is siren?
In Greek Mythology, they are dangerous and beautiful entities that lures sailors to crash on crags and shallow rocks at islands using their enchanting voice accompanied by their harp.
In Final Fantasy though, Siren is a summon. She showed up in FFVI, VIII, XII:Revenant Wings. (EDIT: She was also apparently a boss in FFV! thanks Rogue!)
In the first two iteration, she inflicts silence when summoned and is usually depicted with a harp.
In the last one though, she is depicted as a fairy and can inflict STOP instead of silence.
She also makes appearances in the FF Legends series as a normal enemy though thats a bit lackluster and i would rather not discuss that. Same with her minor appearances in FFXIII.
In the incoming patch, she will be the boss of Pharos Sirius... a lighthouse. ok.. fitting. but still, she should have been a primal fight. her design is absurdly pretty.
Well, i guess as long as the fight has interesting and witty mechanics....
She was in final fantasy V as a boss too, also don't you think she kinda looks like Kuja in trance and a mix of one winged angel sephiroth?
Thanks Rogue for pointing that out! I havent played FFV for a while and I seem to require hints. hahaha.
Kuja in trance mode yes it does! But i would put Rinoa's limit break wings instead of one winged angel sephiroth.
I honestly think she deserves a primal spot better than moggle mog.
No problem!
Actually now that you point it out, it does have wings more similar to Rinoa's Limit Break.
I agree, even though she's not i'm looking forward to experience this fight! Long way to go mind.
Siren appears in several FF as only a boss. FF6 was the first game to really focus on summoners(4 can kinda count but 4 is more of eliciting the aid of magical creatures then it is smn anything). In ff8 she was an Esper but summons in 8 were diff. then 6, 4, ect in that you had many normal monsters available as summons and not just special monsters, they never really felt like summons in 8 and I don't think I actually ever fought using them in the entire game.
Also in many FF games summons were you just calling a monster to aid you in battle, 4,6,10,11, and 13(never played tactics) are the only ones that have a summoner in this manifestation. In 8 you get tonberrys, to deathtrain. They say in the smn description if its special or not but in the end its still just a special monster and not like in the case of 10,11,13,14. Even in 4 summons were living beings and exist in the summon world and you can summon monsters to her aid(chocobo).
6 and 10 where the first real smn ffs and 13 would be in third. You could argue for 4 but again in 6, 10, and 13(11, and 14 as well) are the only times we really see the smns as a thought forms. Siren would only be a primal if she wasn't real and still in existence. It's stated in the quest times that she is in fact real and controls the souls of dead sailors and that Sirens(plural) have been around for quite a while.
Saying Siren should be a primal is like saying every dragon should be a primal. She doesn't have worshipers just souls shes controls more like a necromancer meets bard and technically we don't know the real rules for primals yet we should get a big chunk of info since they said good king moogle is not a primal, in 2.0 at least that's what they have said so far as I believe he was one in 1.0, either but hes summoned it seems.
Hi U'riel! thanks for adding that, though, I have a lot to nitpick on your argument.
On Final Fantasy VIII, the (Guardian Forces) summons are not "just" normal monsters. they are unique, powerful and sentient.
Ifrit, Shiva, Leviathan, Alexander, Diablos, Bahamut, Carbuncle, Siren, jumbo cactuar, king tonberry, doomtrain, eden... etc.
sure, most of them shows up as a regular enemy from time to time (carbuncle sprites, siren sprites) in older final fantasy titles but they have been recurring summons on other ff games. (I feel bad for King Tonberry as well.. but at least he's with his tonberry minions XD)
The team junctions themselves to these beings to make use of their power since they know that these beings are a strong force. The player would never junction them if they are common monsters.
I define a summon as a powerful force that can be brought to the game world and assists the user in combat in this regard, FF8 have summons. And for that end, Siren IS a unique powerful and sentient force. Not simply a monster.
I argued that Siren should atleast have been a primal fight because I think her beautiful design, her past appearances and her potential for a good dynamic fight demands it.
It would have been nice to have her on a high end content.. but on a dungeon that we will be farming over and over... she will lose her... i dont know.. glow. like how king tonberry feels now. just another monster.
