How to get smarter at Crystalline Conflict

公開
Please don't debate with this. Through a lot of trial and error and tons of horrible teams ignoring and changing priority from people who don't know what they're doing has ruinned many of my matches. Lets hope this helps you guys also to get it under rap and share if you like to people who need it still. Also did a popular feast guide years ago when people were new to understanding it when ranking came out. Have to thank my own teacher in pvp Mash McButtons for teaching me to play it well back in ARR before ranking. Lets say a lot of people think they know what they're doing and don't. They either base things on things before the changes when feast was available and class mechanics were different or they believe that PvP is equivalent to dungeons and raid content which no they're not. No your Bard is not the best PvP class anymore and no WAR is not a sustaining tanky class like in your raids and no your healer is not your priority kill targets. Lets get down to brass now that maybe I've gotten into people's heads that changes have happened and it is not a dungeon party. Yes going to use funny words like harass but you'll know what I mean.

Lets put down that the many focus is harassers and non-harassing classes.
So essentially the job of some classes is to go around and hit as much as possible. Pretty simple right?
Now classes like WAR and SAM do this best. Check a lot of the top rankings and you'll see a pattern. WAR also has pretty good stun. Something you do not want to ignore. The harassers essentially will chase people around trying to kill them and prevent you from attacking. They should honestly be your parties priority as they're a threat to wiping parties. Given the chance they'll easily off several members of your party while you tried for the target you thought was easiest like the healer or Bard.

Yes as sad as it is with the changes not all classes are built equally and some will topple all the others. Honestly as proof you should take a look at the rankings and you'll see which ones have made it to the top.

Now I'll give a better example of priority some can be micromanaged but mostly the priority sits pretty well.

Low MP is first priority especially if they're about to run out as they cannot retain HP from self heals any further.

SAM->(DRG-WAR)->(MNK-RDM)->(SMN-MCH-NIN)->Almost Everything else->Healers

Lets get the bias' out of your head by explaining that only a couple of the tanks have really good mitigation against attacks. Take them as more closely to melee with slightly more health and gimmicks like stuns or pulls. Though a couple do have some mitigation particularly DRK and PLD. DRK mitigates to hold the crystal with it's usual invuln and resustains health to when it's invuln ends not to die and PLD has complete invuln where any damage will be completely negated for a short period of time. These are good for holding the crystal when everyone has died.

Healers are mediocre. They can do average damage and boost a couple heals. You might see them DPSing more. This is quite normal and they're playing it right. They'll likely be outDPSed and healing won't be sustainable enough for well focused groups as they should be anyways. 2 healers isn't too bad but still it's no competition for some of the leading classes.

It's okay to hit 2 people but your goal is to take people off the field together to get the rest downed easily and push the crystal. A more focused group will have better chances to remove opponents for a short period of time and take control. If people are focusing 5 different people no ones really going to down so easily quite likely unless your a harasser. In which case if the opponent is focused you'll likely being hitting the dirt. If you are focused you can always guard if your HP is high enough. Hopefully priority will shift which if HP is low your likely going to die. Before guard ends you could always do a few things. You could do heal and run around a corner if your party is there to get them off you. You could also LB if it's to your advantage and your HP is high enough for a group wide attack especially for casters. Try what's best for your advantage and survivability.

Mp is very valuable in Crystalline Conflict. It's essentially your reserves of HP honestly. In terms you might want to back out from the front line when your MP is low. Of course I don't mean frontlines mode. Go around a corner far from the opponents and use it. However just to note people might try to chase you and take the opportunity to take you out while doing it. I'd also in return suggest doing just that when they try to flee. Just be sure not to get focused by the opponent's party in the attempt. As much if a player is focused you might want to support them by trying to take down who is harassing them. Might be more troublesome when a group attempts to do it but then again your priority will be harassment classes anyway so reducing the chances. and allowing leeway to happen.

This being said the RDM is up there as a threat especially with groups with a lot of (magic users) as it both has good harassment with melee comboing and can silence entire parties if lined up. So if your a tank healer or caster they'll be trouble. Can also chase your melee around easily as well. In terms they're easily killable but can range damage if they're focused. So add them to the list of harassers.

Now lets also add crystal priority. It honestly is not really one before Overtime (OT). Only one person needs to focus pushing it asides the checkpoints that go faster getting done if your party is together in the circle. Look at your progress bar above. This shows exactly which team is leading through it's push. The match will run until one 1 checkpoint at least is obtained and a group covers the circle alone or they cross the finish line with the crystal. This can last a long time if no checkpoint is obtained. If one is obtained it's best to try to remove your opponent and take the circle. When that circle stops if your team is in it alone you automatically win even if your pushed all the way back to your base. Consider timing out your lb here and trying not to get nuked by your opponents lb in the process being bunched together. That being said it's probably not too smart to be huddled under the crystal all together if your opponent is around in or out of OT but to leave a couple in it for OT at least to hold on to it.

PS: (I've posted a nearly 25 minute run. I know not it's the best on damage and deaths but someone has to hold the crystal when you're driven to the brink of the opponent getting the checkpoint and no one is there. Games not like this my damage hits usually as one of the leading. Least I supported nearly 30 of the kills. lol)

Lets get down to some field tactics. Each map has short cuts. Cloud Nine has 2 ramps btw one of which unlocks if you progress past the first checkpoint be sure to use them to get back to your party fast. The other two have speedy paths to get back easier.

Cloud Nine will have tornadoes spawn when a circle with a chocobo symbol blows around. It will move slowly then get blown and stop when it stops it'll throw people into the air. There is 2 things to note here. If a person is on the chocobo they'll be lifted into the air and if they were still they'll get the blackfeather buff. This gives you a movement buff but reduces weapon and cast speed. I'd probably suggest guard as a better option unless you don't have one up. The other method to prevent being lifted and losing half your damage is to guard this. You could of course use this to your advantage and stun people and silence before it happens.

In Vocanic Heat bombs will appear do a cross shaped AoE. They'll drop orbs after exploding which give stacks of a buff called hardcore you can collect. This buff increases your damage for short time. in terms some methods that can be used to ensure that your opponents get hit is to use stuns, things that slow or DNC's charm. This can turn around the match pretty easily. Of course to counter you can often remove these debuffs.

I'll add more if needed but honestly i think this is pretty basic and hopefully will get those still suffering to learn to get themselves out their ruts and more people to understand this 5v5 competive mode better.

To be fair, this sounds like pro bodybuilders who actively use gear saying that you can get their size natty. You can't. Get yourself an add-on, the judges don't care.
